TRANS DID
Transitioning to a disorder.
A carrd dedicated to fighting stigma and helping transitions
"I have questions/more rescources!"
Great! Please head over to our transDID blog and shoot us an ask! We'll do our best to answer your question and/or add more rescources to this carrd, with credit of course!
What?
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a dissociative disorder classified by two or more people inhabiting one body and that separation causing distress or impairment
TransDID folk do not physically/naturally have DID but wish to have it, or feel like they should have it
Why?
Someone may be transDID for any number of reasons:
They range from simply thinking it would be cool,
Or alterbeing related reasons,
To wishing one had coped with existing trauma differently
No reason is "more valid" than another reason
Isn't that ableist/romanticizing?
Short answer: No, transDID folk do not directly impact or harm you in unavoidable ways, you can always just block and move on.Long answer: No. TransDID folk do intense research into the disorder and thus know the many downs and few ups it brings, and are not romanticizing or fetishizing it.The only arguable "inherent harm" done by transDID folk is to themself(s), in order to transition, i.e. forcing dissociation.Nothing about being transDID inherently brings harm to anyone else, if you find yourself
being triggered by seeing transDID content,
it is on you to curate your experience & block or filter that content.No-one is the center of the universe, you are only responsible for yourself.
How does transitioning work?
Transitioning from either singlet (not plural at all) or plural but not disordered works similarly, with singlets "only" having the extra step of needing to create alters rather than adjusting dissociation between existing ones.
Alters
Tulpamancy is a good way to create another being sharing your mind/body. r/Tulpas is a great starting place for that.
Along with tulpamancy, subliminals may also help you with creating alters, especially ones with specific roles.
Sophie in Wonderland is a relatively well known tulpa/tulpamancy blog and has rescources on tulpamancy as well.
Dissociation
Subs subs and some more sub! There are a ton of subliminals focused on having the user experience dissociation & DID symptoms! This is a collection of all playlists we use!
We have also put together a more curated subs rec list, with subs 100% focused on transDID individuals & affs always listed somewhere on the sub itself.
Self-hypnosis and guided meditation make you intentionally dissociate & we've found that both have helped us immensely.
How to effectively utilize subliminals
TL;DR: As long as you listen to your subs and believe they'll work, the subs will, in fact, work.
That said, here are some tips on getting more out of subs:
Listen regularly: Having some schedule/routine for when you listen makes it easier to listen more often.
Listen a lot: The more you listen to subs, the more easily and faster you'll get your results.
Forget that you're listening: The idea behind subliminals is that they're influencing your subconscious. Putting on subs while you do something else let's you be productive while listening & lets you conscious focus on something else, rather than constantly being aware that you're listening to subs.
I recommend: Listening while you draw/write, listining while gaming and/or listening while you sleep. These are just some ideas, there is no wrong way to listen to your subs in the background!
